Every decision we make has a lasting impact on our community. The question is: will today’s choices be positive and beneficial for future generations? They will only if decision making is smart, forward-looking, data-driven, and coupled with common sense and clear communication. These two elements — good decisions and good communication — shape how efficient and effective our local government can be, from budgeting and zoning to staffing and planning for future projects.
Openness not only improves coordination but also strengthens transparency and trust in how city government serves its residents. Good decisions and good communication provide direction, minimize risks, and lead to better outcomes for everyone in our community.
What we need to accomplish:
I propose using Ammon’s existing historical data to build two custom analytics models—a Growth Trend Projection Model and a Fiscal Impact Model. These models will display future possibilities based on today’s scenarios and decisions. Together, they will guide smart planning, improve communication, and help create a stronger Ammon for today and the generations to come.
Purpose: Provide community leaders and the public with clear, data-driven projections of where development is most likely to occur in the City of Ammon and its Area of Impact over the next 5–20 years.
Why this matters: This gives Ammon the ability to guide growth on our terms, instead of letting it control us.
Purpose: Use the data from the Growth Trend Projection Model to provide an objective, free of human bias, data-driven assessment of whether proposed annexations or development agreements will strengthen or strain Ammon’s finances. This model ensures that financial impacts are clearly understood and incorporated into both the annual budget and long-term Capital Improvement Plans (CIPs).
Why this matters: This takes the guesswork out of budgeting, keeps Ammon proactive instead of reactive, and ensures your tax dollars are not wasted.
Change in population and development patterns affects the entire region, not just Ammon. That’s why Ammon’s Growth Trend and Fiscal Impact Models are designed to be shared with Idaho Falls, Iona, Bonneville County, and Bonneville School District 93.
Why this matters: Regional collaboration ensures that Ammon and its neighbors are planning from the same set of facts. Bottom line: the entire region is strengthened, and residents are protected.
By providing clear, unbiased data, Ammon can:
